National Institute of Technology, Silchar, an Institute of National Importance declared by the NIT Act, 2007, imparts quality Technical Education in Science, Engineering & Technology at Undergraduate, Postgraduate and Doctoral levels.
Applications are invited from qualified Indian Nationals for faculty positions at the level of Assistant Professor in Civil, Electrical, Mechanical, Electronics & Communication Engg., Computer Sc. & Engg., Electronics & Instrumentation Engg., Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics and Humanities & Social Science disciplines at NIT, Silchar under Special Recruitment Drives for the reserved posts for ST-5, OBC-4 and PWD-2.

NB: Candidates from industry without Ph.D. Degree with substantial professional and R&D experience, and with good number (say 10) of publications in leading journals, wherein candidates being the lead author, may also apply.
(I) Scale of Pay (Revised) : For Assistant Professor : Rs. 15,600-39,100+AGP 6,000/-
(II) Reservations: Reservation will be as per Govt. of India norms for SC/ST/OBC/PWD.
(III) Application Fee of Rs. 300/- for OBC and Rs. 150/- for SC/ST/PWD (Male candidates) and Rs. 150/- for OBC and Rs. 75/- for SC/ST/PWD (Female candidates) in the form of Demand Draft in favour of Director, NIT, Silchar should be enclosed along with the Application Form.

Academic Reimbursements and incentives :
In addition to normal pay and allowances as applicable to the Central Govt. employees stationed at Silchar, following additional incentives, are also available to faculty members :
(i) Full funding of attending National Conference either for presenting a paper or chairing
session as per Institute guidelines.
(ii) Financial assistance up to Rs. 3.00 lakhs in 3 years under professional development fund.
(iii) Reimbursement of telephone charges up to Rs. 750/- per month.
General conditions:
(i) The Institute reserves the right to cancel the recruitment without assigning any reason. (ii) The prescribed qualification and experience are minimum and the mere possession of the same does not entitle candidates to be called for interview. (iii) No correspondence will be entertained with the candidates, who are not called for interview/selected for appointment. (iv) Canvassing in any form will result in disqualification of candidature. (v) Legal disputes, if any, with NIT, Silchar will be restricted within the jurisdiction of Silchar Court only. (vi) Complete application form shall be submitted to the Registrar, NIT, Silchar – 788010, Assam. (vii) All reserved category candidates shall be required to submit attested copies of the latest Caste certificate issued by competent authority. Similarly, PWD candidates shall be required to submit proof of physical disability certificate from competent medical authority.

(i) Candidates are requested to provide their active email Id/mobile phone numbers/ Landline phone numbers in the application form for easy contact. (ii) List of short listed candidates will be displayed on the Website of the Institute. (iii) Candidates are advised to visit the Institute Website regularly. (iv) Short listed candidates will be informed by email for interviews. (v) The Institute reserves the right to reject any or all applications or it may amend any of the clauses above as per orders of the competent authority/Govt. of India. (vi) Incomplete applications shall be summarily rejected and no communication in this regard shall be entertained. (vii) Candidate should fill in separate application form for each Department, if applying for more than one Department. (viii) 3 tire AC for to & fro journey will be paid to the candidates.
